What is Accreditation?

Internal Quality Management (IQM)

Developing an internal quality management system (IQM) has always been the scope of Girne American University (GAU) for the past two decades. Equally, we have started to explore and use new pedagogical methods that are more student-centered, and to implement competence-based approaches to teaching and learning.

Internal quality management system (IQM) enables us to improve and strengthen the methods used for the requirements of a competence-based higher education and to support the enhancement of a student-centered learning approach.

Therefore, we are constantly working to improve and strengthen our curriculums, teaching and assessment methods and students’ learning strategies.

Cooperation & Articulations

The University has a policy of seeking association and articulation agreements with relevant universities and other institutions of higher education abroad and to encourage the exchange of students and academic staff members. Today, the University is proud to be associated with the following leading Universities from around the world.

External Accrediting Bodies

Accreditation is a quality assurance process where higher education institutions’ academic programs are evaluated by an external body to determine if applicable standards are met. If standards are met, accredited status is granted by the external accrediting body.
Accreditation and internal quality management (IQM) are parallel to each other, both aims to review, improove and strengthen the requirements of a competence-based higher education by an assessment of the outcomes of the teaching-learning process.
GAU has its leading Faculties accredited by prestigious accrediting bodies in Europe and USA. Furthermore, we are following the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (the ESG) through the accreditation bodies in Europe.
Accreditation of an external body not only provides us excellence in teaching-learnig process but also;
Reinforces a commitment to continuous improvement, innovation, and creativity. Creates a greater visibility for our University.
Provides prestige and credibility for our diplomas and therefore for our graduates.
